Morning rises on the sidewalks of town
Lake reflections as sunlight comes down
People walking, talking to their phones
One is witty, one plays along
My heart belongs to my nest and the lake
Yet the mind wants every journey to take
Between a dream, a thought, a test
Another moment comes to rest

Both optimistic and worried . . .

Some are drawn to crowded beaches awake
Others seek a quiet sunrise on a lake
Some are climbing high mountain trails
Others wander green and peaceful vales
Some adore the endless desert sand
Some chase winter over frozen land
In all its contrasts, nature forms a whole
And I find that I truly love it all

As loud thunder breaks, I tremble with fright
A first light of dawn, by the window I stand

Sounds of raindrops, in the light breeze
Early hours do bring calm, gentle ease
Through the drifting clouds, first sunrays appear

Decades have passed since my childhood days,

Each step of life was shaped in time’s embrace.

And sometimes in the race ahead,

you pause a while and sit,

As vivid  memories warm your heart - it skips a beat 

The road back home, down memory lane, 

The roots of youth, we can't regain.

I carry them with me wherever life may lead.

The blooms of spring, the ocean’s blue,

The morning breeze, the sites I knew,

And children playing in the golden field.

I remember when we walked in the rain,

Through fields of green, watching snails again.

The joy we found in simple things,

The dreams that young life brings,

Imagination soaring high on the freedom’s wings.

The world today runs faster every day,

We chase the hours, yet let them slip away.

I don’t know what that means to my kids eventually 

But I give thanks to my roots, my home, my family.

The road back home, down memory lane, 

The roots of youth, we can't regain.

I carry them with me wherever life may lead.

Old scars still burn, they linger deep,
He walks at night and barely sleeps.
The weight he carries feels so near,
He wonders how long he’ll be here.

The staring eyes add extra weight,
He sways between control and fate.
The love from friends and family near,
He holds on to what is so dear.

He gazes at the stars,
Through his pain and his scars.
Reaching out from afar,
No longer sure where things are.

He gains some strength and starts to share,
Sends daily prayers into the air.
With work and healing side by side,
His pains begin to subside.

Your talent and charm always lead
Don’t dwell on the past, just leave it behind

Et nous on veut tout voir, et tout goûter - c’est l’appétit !
Petits tours gourmands partout, avec des groupes de voyageurs,
Ou un voyage “chef” très chic, pour les riches amateurs.

Tapas bons en Catalogne,
La Boquería Barcelone.
Fondue savoyarde à Annecy,
Pâtisseries fines à Nancy.
Un steak fiorentina en Toscane,
Fromages gourmands à Lausanne
À Chamonix, des glaces bien hautes
Et j’ai vidé toute ma cagnotte !

Chaque voyage devient une fête de saveurs,
Un petit festin, une raison de voler ailleurs.

I must confess I lean toward, Europe’s culinary flair,
But others crave the spice of India, or East-Asia’s air.
Tandoori fire hot and bright; Thai food sizzling in a pan
Ensure the street stand is clean, no creepy crawlies in your naan.

Goulash rich in Budapest,
Barbecue in Bucharest,
Charcuterie, dear Avignon,
Bacalhau in Lisbon.
Paella warm in Sevilla
Arancini in Sicilia
And when my energy’s all used…
I hop aboard a giant cruise!

Every trip becomes a feast of tasty bites,
Gourmet food, is the reason for my flights.

Twilight sunset wakes a memory
Of those I loved who passed away
Sacred moments, much joy, some misery
Are they still there, watching me today?

Does love stay strong as the years go by
Where are my memories, have they run dry?

Red blossom fields in the spring
Endless waves the ocean bring
People praying, holidays
Signs of joy along the way
Children laughing down the street
Parents crying tears so sweet
Morning skies, a light lake breeze
Memories

Twilight sunset wakes my thoughts
Of those I love across the land
I send my prayers to the heavens, for good health and brighter days
Searching for a distant star, to become their guiding hand

Well, our love does grow as years unfold
And all our memories do softly call
I love you all

As a young boy, il voulait tout savoir,

Écoutait ses parents, and raising the bar

Choosing sports to play, et quels instruments,

Picking new games et beaux passe-temps.

On family trips il apprenait à marcher,

Discovering the world et comment voyager.

But one question toujours revenait:

La plage ou le lac ? Il ne savait jamais.

Now a grown up, voyageur du monde,

Il connaît les restos et les plats qui sont bons.

Knows which sights to see, quelles rues parcourir,

Quels beaux panoramas one must not miss here.

He meets new people, apprend chaque jour,

Il gère sa vie with wisdom and amour.

And he says now it’s absolutely clear for me
